On Nikola Tesla’s birthday, Friday, July 10, 2015, Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe (TSC) will host the Long Island premiere of filmmaker Joseph Sikorski’s new documentary film, “Tower to the People,” at the Shoreham-Wading River High School auditorium in Wading River, New York.
In making this film, Sikorski followed from start to finish the record-setting 2012 Indiegogo online fundraising campaign “Let’s Build a Goddam Tesla Museum,” which succeeded in its ambitious goal of saving Wardenclyffe, the last laboratory of the great inventor. His film also documents the progress made toward restoring the long-neglected Wardenclyffe site in the first year after it was purchased by TSC in May 2013. Sikorski covered events and activities that took place on the grounds and interviewed Tesla fans, celebrities, people involved in the campaign, and dedicated volunteers.
The Long Island premiere of “Tower to the People” will take place beginning at 7 p.m. just a short distance from Tesla’s historic laboratory in Shoreham. Sikorski and TSC officers will be present to answer questions. The film has been shown to standing-room-only crowds in New York City, Toronto, and Belgrade.
Sikorski has also been a major financial supporter of TSC, donating the seed money for his feature film, “Fragments From Olympus,” to the 2012 Indiegogo campaign on order to bring the total over the campaign goal.
Tickets for the July 10th screening of “Tower to the People” are available at Eventbrite.com. Discounts for students, seniors, members, and early bird purchases are available until July 7. At the door, all tickets are $12. Seating is limited.
