It all began with memberships
When our project was still in its infancy and largely a dream, the memberships of committed supporters provided us with the support to reach our early goals: raise awareness of Nikola Tesla’s achievements by organizing the first Tesla conference and reaching out to community organizations, schools, and representatives of all levels of government. Those initiatives laid the foundation that allowed us to successfully apply for several small grants.
By the time the previous owner of Tesla’s former Wardenclyffe site was completing the environmental cleanup, the steadfast support from our members, donors, and funders had helped establish the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe as a trustworthy organization. Thus Matt Inman’s Indiegogo global online campaign, via his cartoon website TheOatmeal.com, successfully raised the funds to purchase the entire property to save and restore Tesla’s former Wardenclyffe laboratory.
Since then, hundreds of volunteers and donations both large and small have transformed the former superfund site into a viable campus where the restoration of Tesla’s historic laboratory will take place along with the transformation of the campus into a center for science and technology that brings learning and exploring to life. As we look forward, we see many new ways in which support by members and unique opportunities for members will become an integral part of the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe. Please join us in this effort.
